Here is a repro WWII WAFFEN SS HELMET COVER, made with 100% original preMay 1945 camo fabric, by At The Front. I purchased the helmet cover in 2019 from ATF. It is a textbook example of a WWII WSS helmet cover, made to original specs, authentic looking spring clips, correct thread & sewing technique, spring covers, nothing was spared to make this cover as authentic as the WWII originals. It is made from remnants from a original zeltbahn. The originals were made from cutting floor scraps left over from zeltbahns, as none of the camo fabric was thrown away, due to the scarcity of it. The camo is the overprint pattern, with a mid-war Oak Leaf A background. The background colors have a washed out look, & the dark overprint has a more vibrant color, very interesting camo effect. The fabric is used, showing minor wear & age, but still exc., not fragile. The cover is shown on a size 66 helmet shell. I have shown the cover next to a high quality repro cover, & as you can see, although the other cover is well made, it does not compare to the more authentic looking ATF repro made with original fabric!
