Vintage Jewish 1959 Bar Mitzvah Memory Chest
in good condition. High Quality This is a very scarce item. "The interior of the chest is marked in gold lettering: " Bar Mitzvah Chest by Anson "Anson, Inc. ( Anson ), was a Rhode Island company that ceased operations in 1993.Anson manufactured Jewelry , Accessories for Men , etc., in Providence , RI since 1938.The chest is hard-sided, with stamped decoration in gold , including the Torah glass tube holder, .Brass trimming and applied brass Menorah & Star Of David decoration Cream-colored upper section, and black lower section. The chest stands on four small knob-feet. The flat brass plate on the top cover is removable ( it slides out ), so it can be engraved with the name of the young man to whom this Bar Mitzvah Memory Chest belongs. Chest dimensions: 7" x 10" x 2 1/4" ( when closed )The box size is 8" x 10 3/4" x 2 3/4"The chest hinges open, and the top stands on its own in the upright position. The inside of the case is lined in white velvet. All of the velvet is
still white and in good condition   It was made in 1959.Inside the top cover is an area for receiving papers : " Bar Mitzvah Congratulations , Cards , Letters , Telegrams , Important Papers , School Reports , Bank Books , Private Correspondence "Next is a hinged separator. It is the " Picture Gallery ," edged in brass , which keeps the saved papers in place, and also serves as a frame / mount for up to 6 photographs ( three photos in the front, three photos in the back ).The original instruction sheet is missing. The picture gallery is decorated in gold In the upright position, the Gallery locks snugly in place, exposing the next section. The final section, in the lower part of the chest, contains slots for various objects :1. " Personal Jewelry and Important Souvenirs "This is lidded, with a brass pull which is decorated with Menorah & Star Of David. The lid is lined with white velvet on the underside, and is held by four brass shelves.2. " My Boutonniere "A clear plastic case for saving your boutonniere flower. The case fits into a white velvet lined slot.3. " Scroll Case "" To Keep Your Bar Mitzvah Certificate And Newspaper Clippings "Clear plastic scroll case, with brass metal end-caps.4. " My Private Memory Book "This small, hardcover " blank " book was printed by Anson Inc. of Providence , Rhode Island and Toronto , Canada. It has the printed copyright date 1959 The blank book is 61 pages, and has sections for entering personal information: memories of the Bar Mitzvah , various information from the life of the 13 year-old boy , family , financial report , hopes for the future, information about Jewish holidays , Hebrew Expressions, etc., etc. The book has no writing at all, and is in great condition
