TDK Life On Record TP6803BLK 3-Speaker Boombox. Condition is "Used". Shipped with UPS This is a used unit, though it has been well cared for. Mostly it sat on a shelf in a sewing workshop, happily playing reggae, jazz, and podcasts. Brand new units are selling for 1400 dollars and up. This one works and sounds every bit as good as a brand new one (which, btw, is REALLY REALLY GOOD). It just has some wear on it. The wear is mostly in the form of small scratches and is depicted in the pictures above, with red circles surround them. So, my math on pricing goes as such. The cheapest I can find a brand new unit for is 1400. I can't find used units. Not many people are willing to give them up. It's heavy and I need space. Lucky for you. Do not, btw, confuse this with the 2 speaker unit. It is also a very good unit and sounds very good. It does not sound as good as this or get as loud. So if you take that 1400 dollar price, knock off 30 percent, then subtract 30 dollars for each of the minor blemishes depicted above, you end up with 830. Minus 5 bucks cuz I like you. So, end result.... 825. You won't find a working one for that price anywhere, I don't think. You probably won't find one at all. Now, a work about the unit. It's CHONK. It weighs over 30lbs. Fill it with the requisite D-cell batteries and you'd better have a spotter to move it. Fortunately it comes with a power adapter so you will not need to fill it with batteries. It has a mount on the bottom for a tripod/stand (like those used for PA speakers). You can plug a mic or guitar in (though they might need a pre-amp). It has an aux in, a usb port (for mp3, and other formats), and rca inputs. If you plug in a turntable, make sure your turntable output is either line-out level or you have a pre-amp. If you use turntables you will recognize this as standard precedure. Every ounce of that weight has been utilized to make noise because it is also LOUD. I have never even approached maximum volume (which, as you can see from the picture, does go all the way up to 11). I think I got as high as 7 or so, once... about 2/3 the way to full volume. The people coming in and out of the Tattoo shop on the other end of the parking lot kept coming around looking for the nightclub they assumed must be behind my workshop. It's not just loud. Most of its use it has been to keep us entertained while we work in the shop and it does not require high volumes to be clear. Voice reproduction is fantastic. Audiobooks and podcasts sound great through it. The only drawback it has, regarding sound quality, is something it shares with all boomboxes. Stereo separation isn't great because the speakers are quite near one another. It's the nature of the beast. And, take heed, this thing is a beast. It's as portable as you are willing. It sounds good enough to be parked. If it weren't for the lack of stereo separation I would scrap the Onkyo amp and Design Acoustic speakers in my living room and put this there instead. It sounds better. I will be sad to see it go. It has been worth every penny I paid for it and every moment of fret I have had trying to keep it pristine. If I had more room and I wasn't the only person in my household who could lift it I would keep it. Don't buy this unless you are going to love it. Feed it some Coltrane once in a while. Care for it and it will care for you.
