Description

RARE SPANISH CIVIL WAR NATIONALIST ARMY M26 HELMET FRANCO M1926 TRUBIA CON ALA.
The M26 helmet was made at the "
National Arsenal of Artillery
" in Trubia, thus commonly referred to as " Trubia c
on ala
" which translates to "With Wings" due to its flared sides.
It was distributed in 1930 and was a common sight on the battlefields during the Spanish Civil War.
This example is a Civil War model identified by the small side rivets and early leather liner. These along with other helmets in service with the Spanish Army were all withdrawn in 1943 and refurbished. Spanish Nationalist army arsenals had a coating of a light green paint applied and frontal brackets to hold the new "Franquista" national badges.
The vast majority of the few Spanish Civil-warera helmets for sale are almost always the latter M34 helmets, different in a number of ways mainly the poor, thin-quality sheetmetal utilized, the lack of liner rivets, crude chinstrap, unsecured liner band and other flaws.
