    Description

Original WW2 German M35 Helmet Winter Camo.
This helmet was found near Koenigsberg, Russia, in 2019. The final picture is a map of where the Koenigsberg Pocket was located, and the yellow dot on the west side of the encirclement is where the helmet was dug up. Notice that the soldier’s position was overrun early on in the siege.
The helmet has several layers of paint, which makes sense because it is an early model (M35) and the helmet probably lasted the soldier from 1939-40 until this siege (early 1945). The oldest coat of paint is the visible on the top at areas, and it is a light green (I believe the Quist factory used a lighter green, early in their production). Next is the white camouflage layer, and there is a final layer of paint that is a darker green. Inside the helmet on the back is the handwritten last name, Rönig. Being that this is a less common German last name, the helmet could be identified.
    The helmet is size 68.
