Carbro (Carbon-Bromide) Print made in its time. Heavy stock Fiber based paper. A print made from three bromide transfer prints, stacked in registration to produce a single colored image. Only photograph guaranteed NEVER to fade under normal conditions.
Each transfer print is pigmented to correspond to one of the three separation negatives which are produced by photographing the subject through red, green and blue filters.
Process was long abandoned due to its cost to produce. Colors beautiful and rich!
In the 1930s to the 1960s this tricolor carbro process was used mostly for glamour photos of celebrities and famous places and events. Today these rare photographs can be found in the Smithsonian, The George Eastman House and other institutions.
Will be packed in very stiff re-enforced layered cardboard.
