RKO Original Italian Four-Foglio poster (79x55) for the film THE BELLS OF ST. MARY'S (1945) starring Bing Crosby, Ingrid Bergman, Henry Travers and William Gargan. Leo McCarey was the director here and McCarey was in the neighborhood he was great with. McCarey had famously directed Crosby in the Academy Award winning movie GOING MY WAY just the year before this film. So here was another heartwarming family drama -- made in the year that World War II was coming to its end. This is a large poster. Italian four foglio posters are printed on two separate panels which are joined together to display as one poster. This poster was used in a cinema in Italy and therefore it does show some signs of general use. It needs cleaning and there is some tape present. The poster would certainly benefit from conservation and we can recommend professionals who can do this. Crosby is not shown on this poster, but there is beautiful portrait art of Ingrid Bergman by Enzo Nistri. Ingrid Bergman won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Leading Role in 1946 for this film.
