Description

Chromolithograph on silk, scene of a young bride and groom. Sublime color palette, mostly pink. I believe the sticks and guards are made of ivory (before 1890!), although it's possible they are bone. The fan is signed A. Lauronce.  Auguste Lauronce (
1837-1886)
was a world renowned printer lithographer whose work was on display at the Paris Exposition in 1879 and later he was commissioned to apply his art to fine quality items like this fan. The fan is of French origin and circa 1880. It belonged to my great-grandmother (1854-1920) and the original box is included (see photos).
Dimensions: 11.75" high; opens to about 22". Condition is excellent other than the 2 sticks and 1 guard that are broken. The sticks could possibly be repaired by an expert; the guard is missing a small section at the pivot.
Hanging ring still intact and securely attached by two miniscule ivory (?) buttons.
