2004 Republican National Convention (GOP) Credentials / Press Passes - New York City (NYC) - Complete SetThis is a
complete set of press credentials
(admittance tickets for members of the press) covering the 2004 Republican National Convention in New York City. There is
one credential / ticket for each of the 5 convention sessions
(Monday afternoon, and Monday through Thursday evenings). These credentials were for a member of the daily press (e.g. daily newspaper reporters) and were for an assigned seat in the daily press stand (the seat listed is Section 219, Row A, Seat 11). The convention was held in Madison Square Garden.
Also included is a rare Pre-Convention Credential
(#15315). This pink credential / ticket was used by members of the press and convention staff to access the convention arena in the days leading up to the event, during the one-month set-up period.
Convention credentials are required for anyone attending the convention, and are worn around the neck on a lanyard or string. Most convention attendees take the credentials home with them as a memento of attending the event.
At the 2004 convention, President George W. Bush was nominated for a second term in office, which he ultimately won. The convention was held from August 30 - September 2, 2004. The GOP chose to hold the convention in New York City to honor the city in the aftermath of September 11th (9/11).
