    Description

This full unused card stock tri-fold packet, with embossed gold foil seal reading "
    Republican Inaugural
", was sent as an invitation (and major fundraising vehicle) to the
    1995 Republican Inaugural
to be held on February 9, 1995, as a celebration of the Republican party winning the majority in the United States Senate, United States House of Representatives, and of Governors in State Houses across America, in the election held November 8, 1994. A three-page letter addressed to
    BRUCE P. McNALL,
    The Forum, Inglewood Ca
    ,
dated December 20,1994 and signed by Haley Barbour, Chairman of the Republican National Committee, lists the schedule for the Inaugural, which will be available with the renewal of membership in "
    Team 100
". Renewal required a donation of
    0,000
. Also included are an acceptance form; a specific agenda; a page of Fundraising goals; a remittance envelope; and a formal invitation to the Inaugural from
    Senator
    Bob Dole
    and Congressman
    Newt Gingrich
    .
    The recipient of the invitation,
    Bruce Patrick McNall
(born April 17, 1950) is a former Thoroughbred racehorse owner, sports executive, and convicted felon who once owned the
    Los Angeles Kings
    of the
    National Hockey League
    (NHL) and the
    Toronto Argonauts
    of the
    Canadian Football League
(CFL). On December 14, 1993, McNall pleaded guilty to five counts of conspiracy and fraud and admitted to bilking six banks out of 6 million over a ten-year period. He was sentenced to 70 months in prison and was released in 2001.
Since the invitation was sent in December 1994, and imprisoned McNall had been forced to sell the Kings in 1993, he most likely never received this vintage packet, which shows light wear to the edges of the three-page cover sheet from storage. An interesting addition to any collection.
