This is a "Presidential Edition" double-matted limited edition poster from the 1988 Republican National Convention (GOP RNC) that was held at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans, LA, from August 15 to 18, 1988. This is where incumbent vice-president to Ronald Reagan and native Texan George Herbert Walker Bush accepted the Republican nomination as presidential candidate, with Indiana senator J. Danforth "Dan" Quayle as the vice-presidential running mate on the ticket. This poster commemorates the "thousand points of light" acceptance speech, the "read my lips, no new taxes" soundbite, and ultimately a victorious election over the Michael Dukakis and Lloyd Bentsen ticket!
This poster was in a limited edition of 2500, and it is signed by the artist as #246 (a relatively low serial number!). It was ordered as new to be framed immediately before shipping, and it has been in the hands of a private collector ever since. In other words, this double-matted (blue on the outside, red accent on the inside) frame job is also original to 1988! The frame is gold-toned with a glass window, and the whole piece measures 37.25 inches long, 26.5 inches tall, the frame itself is 1.5 wide on the border, and then the depth is 1 inch out of the wall.
This poster is perfect to celebrate the city of New Orleans, presidential history, the 80's, or all of the above! Please add for shipping by FedEx (it's heavy) to anywhere in the United States. The current location of this piece is in ZIP code 11023, so if you live reasonably close to the Greater New York City area, we can discuss in-person pickup as an option...but only after payment clears.
