Description
Offered today from a local estate is a rare political collector's item: The Book of the Republican National Convention 1936. The 1936 Republican National Convention was held June 9-12 at the Public Auditorium in Cleveland, Ohio. It nominated Governor Alfred Landon of Kansas for president and Frank Knox of Illinois for vice president. This book is a compendium of the convention and is filled with information for the convention, a who's who of the Republican Party, articles on why I'm a Republican, party platform, historical perspectives, pictures of the key players, and a bevy of period advertising.
The book is complete and in very good condition. Note the picture showing wear on the lower spine where there is a small 7/8" tear at the spine edge. The cover also has some faint pencil markings. I have not tried to remove them.
This is a great piece of political memorabilia. The cover alone has an iconic picture of Abraham Lincoln with the words of the constitution screened behind his image.....That government of the people....
