This is our NEW  0-1 inch Cool Weld Studios custom micrometer. These are hand crafted custom finished micrometers we make in small runs and have been doing so for the last 14 years. These are not made in a style like Starrett, Brown & Sharpe or Mitutoyo micrometers. They are made from suitable cores. A custom mike? Yes, as an analogy, similar to the custom bikes and cars we see being made by some great fabricators these days. The mike has mirror finish carbide tips on the anvil and spindle,
your choice of thimble
(.001" plain, .0001" plain or .0001" friction thimble) and has a speeder.
The 7th. and 8th. images show the .001 plain (the .0001" plain thimble is not shown) and .0001" friction thimble respectively.
The frame is perforated with holes for lightness. The lock knob, thimble end and spinner knob are rope knurled. The speeder ends in a smooth knob so as to give the user some slippage on it for the right feel when reading tenths. We calibrate these to our feel. If one uses a mike like a "C" - clamp the readings will be off not to mention the abuse on the tool. The steel frame has a satin finish and the back of the frame is polished by hand.  This is a file image of one of the many like this (but not necessarily the same item).
These are not "perfect" CNC generated tools as they are carefully hand machined and finished. That is the finish we strive for. The images in this bid are part of the description. There is no guarantee on the tools performance or condition after mail shipment.
